DST is a non-profit organisation working mainly on the fields of
shallow water hydrodynamics, inland navigation and transport
technology research. Since its foundation in 1954 the DST (former
called VBD) is active promoting the inland navigation on Germany's
rivers and canals and improving the safety, technology and
efficiency by research projects and by customer oriented
investigations. The DST is operating a special shallow water towing
tank and purchases a new inland waterway simulator facility, which
will be available in 2008 for educational and experimental purposes.
